Do you use southbound SR 529 out of Marysville? Heads up! In the next couple of weeks we are going to add a chicane (love that word for a set of turns interrupting an otherwise straight stretch of roadway) between Ebey Slough and I-5 so we can build a roundabout as part of our project to add on- and off-ramps between SR 529 and I-5.

It’s going to take time to build the roundabout and ramps, but when everything opens in 2024, people will be able to exit northbound I-5 onto northbound SR 529 or go from SR 529 to southbound I-5.

This will help people going into or out of Marysville while avoiding the SR 528/Fourth Street railroad crossing. Currently people using the Fourth Street/I-5 interchange often get hung up waiting for trains that block Fourth Street.

Once the southbound shift is in place, our contractor may need an occasional closure on SR 529, but most of the work will take place off the roadway.
