Patti in her heyday…

A look at the home before the reovations.

Patti’s home today.

On August 15, 2022 Patti Oman left her home in Lowell and walked to a convenience store on Broadway in Everett, Washington. Walking was something Patti loved and did every day in spite of being 80 years old.

After buying Lottery tickets at the store, she headed back to her house in Lowell where she’d lived for more than 20 years. Sadly, she never made it home.

In the 5400 block of Broadway, a car struck the 80-year-old. According to a witness, the car stopped, a woman got out and then got back in and drove away. The driver never tried to aid Patti or call for help. Patti died about a week later at an Everett hospital. Her family was devastated.

About a month after the crash a 32-year-old woman was arrested and charged with Felony hit and run causing death. Since that time the woman has been in and out of jail.

In the meantime Patti’s family was contacted by Heather Nelson of JustJet Properties. Heather’s company specializes in helping families who have properties that belonged to relatives that have passed away. They pay cash for the houses and rehabilitate the homes.

In 1998 Patti’s Lowell home won a Monte Cristo Award for Renovation and Transformation. After more than two decades the home was in need of renovations with the exterior overgrown with blackberry vines and the interior needing an upgrade.

Heather worked with creative designer/project manager Bethanie Fritz and Megan Wilaby with Ballpark Realty to renovate the home keeping Patti’s spirit in mind and keeping it light and bright.

“I think Patti is looking down at this and commenting right now,” said Jean Kearney, Patti’s sister.

Family and friends gathered at the home Saturday afternoon to see the renovations and reminisce about Patti and her well lived life.
