Just before 9:00 p.m. this evening, Ladder 1 responded with Snohomish County Fire District 4 to a report of a vehicle overturned and submerged in water in the slough off of Home Acres Rd & 60th St SE.

Ladder 1 arrived to find one occupant out of the vehicle and a second occupant trapped in the back seat with only a pocket of air to breathe from.

Two of Ladder 1’s crew members, who are also rescue swimmers, went to work to rescue the trapped male.

Firefighter Nelson rescued the male from the submerged vehicle – guiding him underwater from the backseat and safely to shore to waiting fire crews.

The subject was transported to the hospital by Snohomish County Fire District 4 for non-life-threatening injuries and evaluation.

The vehicle accident is under investigation by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
