Afternoon Commute In Everett Slowed For Emergency Road Repair

Editor’s update 7:30 PM: WSDOT says all lanes reopened at 7:15 PM but huge backups remained on all northbound lanes into Everett as well as side streets. No word on how many vehicles were damaged by the broken concrete panel.

Washington State Department of Transportation had to close a portion of northbound I-5 in Everett, Washington this afternoon for an emergency repair.

WSDOT said a concrete panel in the center lane of northbound I-5 lifted about three inches.

Two right lanes are closed just before the Snohomish River Bridge

Northbound I-5 traffic is backed up to the King-Snohomish County line as of 4:30 PM

Lanes will re-open once the asphalt patch is dry.

Traffic through Everett is a mess. Best to avoid if you can. Evergreen, Broadway and Colby are all crawling northbound.
