Today Everett Police issued a press release regarding the shooting outside the Everett Gospel Mission just after midnight Thursday. A man and woman were both arrested Thursday by Everett Police.

Today they had a court appearance for a probable cause hearing in Everett District Court. Both suspects refused to leave jail and come to court.

Judge Tam Bui did find probable cause for both and set bail at $1 million dollars for the man and $500,000.00 for the woman.

She re-set the date for the probable cause hearing to Monday. Below is the press release from Everett PD.

The regional Violent Crimes Reduction Unit (VCRU), comprised of members of the Everett Police Department, Lynnwood Police Department and Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, have arrested the suspect in the shooting which occurred in the early morning hours of December 15, 2022 in Everett.

A little after midnight on the above date, EPD Officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Smith Ave for the report of a male who had been shot. Arriving officers found one victim who had been shot in the head and began rendering aid. The victim, a male in his 40’s, was transported to a hospital where he underwent reconstructive surgery for serious, non-life- threatening injuries.

A second victim, a male in his 30’s, was nearby when the shooting occurred. After the suspect shot the first victim, he approached the second victim and attempted to shoot him, but the gun apparently malfunctioned. The suspect then physically assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene as a passenger in a distinct black BMW.

Several hours after the shooting and assault, a male was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office for a traffic-related crime. The male was driving a black BMW at the time of his arrest. Based upon evidence, VCRU was able to identify the male as the suspect in the above shooting and assault. An additional charge of Assault 1, Attempted Assault 1 and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1 were added to his booking sheet.

The BMW was later located at a residence in Mukilteo where the suspect had been staying with his girlfriend. The BMW was confirmed to be the same vehicle the suspect was occupying when he fled the scene of the shooting, his girlfriend was identified as the driver. The female was later booked into the Snohomish County Jail by EPD Major Crimes Detectives for Rendering Criminal Assistance 1.

The suspect in this shooting is also the suspect in another shooting that occurred in Everett earlier in the week. Everett PD will provide an update on that shooting when the investigation is complete.
