Everett

A heads up from the WSDOT about overnight lane reductions next week and upcoming on I-5 between Everett and Marysville.

The area where overnight work will be taking place starting next week and also in December.

Work to replace a girder on the damaged 12th Street Bridge in Everett kicks off next week with lane reductions on northbound Interstate 5 starting near Marine View Drive. All lanes will reopen north of the 12th Street Bridge.

The nightly work will begin at 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, until Friday morning, Nov. 18 with the roadway tapering down to a single lane at times. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning.

People who rely on southbound I-5 should plan for a nightly single-lane reduction starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, through 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18.

This will be the first of three straight weeks with sporadic weeknight lane reductions in north Everett. Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation plan two nights with complete closures of northbound I-5 in early December. During those closures, crews will replace a girder on the 12th Street bridge, which was damaged in September 2021 when it was hit by an excavator being transported on the back of a truck.

People who are traveling can get real-time traffic information on mobile phones with the WSDOT traffic app and by following the WSDOT traffic Twitter feed.
