An investigation is underway by the SMART team following an arrest by Everett Police Saturday night in north Everett, Washington where a person was tased multiple times. Here’s the information released this morning from PIO Nathan Fabia.

Detectives with the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) responded to 1510 Broadway to investigate a potential use of force incident involving Everett Police Department. A 31-year-old man is in stable condition at Providence Regional Medical Center following an altercation with Everett Police around 8:30pm Saturday.

Officers responded to a suspicious call at approximately 8:20pm. Shortly after arriving on scene, officers contacted the subject and an altercation ensued. There were multiple taser deployments and the subject was taken into custody. Aid responded to the scene and evaluated the subject. He was cleared by aid and transported to the Snohomish County Jail. During the booking process, jail medical staff noticed the subject exhibited medical symptoms and determined he needed a clearance to book from Providence Regional Medical Center.

While at the hospital, the subject was initially evaluated for potential internal injuries. Medical staff discovered his symptoms were consistent with a prior medical condition.

The 31-year-old subject remains in stable condition at Providence Regional Medical Center. He is expected to be released within 24 hours and booked into Snohomish County Jail for Assault 3rd Degree.
