Video Series To Show How Everett Engages With Homelessness

People experiencing homelessness, the unhoused, those who want to live on the street and not follow anyone else’s rules, those who have tried to get into programs only to be put on waiting list after waiting list. Homelessness is a major issue in Everett, Washington along with almost everywhere else in the country.

On Monday September 19th the group Everett Faith In Action, will begin releasing one video every other day to show how homelessness is affecting Everett.

In all there will be six videos released and on Sunday October 2nd the public is invited to view a live screening of the entire 6-part video series focused on the realities of homelessness and some of the ways faith communities are actively bringing dignity and care to unsheltered individuals in Everett.

This event will include interviews with key partners featured in this video series, and ways community members in Everett can participate.

It will be held at the First Baptist Church, 1616 Pacific Avenue in Everett from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM. You can learn more at this link.

Ben Breeden, Homeless Response Coordinator with the City of Everett is working with Everett Faith in Action to get the word out about the issue.

“We all have an obligation, regardless of faith, to see these individuals and engage with compassion,” Breeden told us recently. “This video series tackles assumptions and myths, and the event on October 2 will foster real-time connections, opportunities to share, and allow people to get involved.”

Each video lasts between two and four minutes. They will all be available online and people are encouraged to watch and share all of the videos in addition to coming together on October 2nd. “Great stuff is happening,” Breeden said. “This is about education, advocacy and action—and we have many miles to go.
