This morning I had the opportunity to introduce myself and ask a few questions.
Here’s a very brief “meet the owner” and a reminder to take a moment to introduce yourself to a small store owner in your neighborhood and to shop local to make sure Everett is Building.
“When you have your own business you can carry out your own ideas.”
That’s what Sujita Gajurel Phuyal told me when I asked her about why she and her family purchased the Corner Grocery at Madison and Beverly Boulevard in central Everett, Washington a couple of weeks ago.
It’s a family operation. She and her husband live in Everett and partnered with her brother and sister and will be running the store three-hundred-sixty-five-days-a-year.
“No Holidays for us,” Sujita remarked with a smile.
They have already added fresh fruits and vegetables outside the store under brightly colored umbrellas.
Plans for more fresh food to-go and a small coffee area inside the store are in the works for the future.
“When you work for someone else you are building their future, we have our own ideas and this is good for our future,” Sujita said.
The store is located at 6732 Beverly Boulevard in Everett and is open seven-days-a-week. Stop in, get a snack or beverage and meet the new owners.
