McDonald’s At 79th And Evergreen Set To Re-Open Saturday

Everett, Everett Economy

All employees and customers got out safely.

Smoke comes out the back door of McDonalds.

Back on June 11th a fire did serious damage to the kitchen at the McDonald’s restaurant at 79th and Evergreen Way in Everett, Washington.

The restaurant closed for a few days, and then a week, and then a few weeks and a month. After seeing a flurry of activity there this past week we checked and got word from McDonald’s that the restaurant is expected to open Saturday August 20th.

We reached out to the McDonald’s corporate office with a couple of questions and received the following answers from McDonald’s USA Operations Manager Shiho Tillman:

Are you able to give an answer on what has kept the store from opening back up quickly after the fire?
Due to the current supply chain backlogs, we had a much longer wait time to get the damaged equipment replaced. We also had to obtain the necessary permits to get the repair work started.

Has it been tough hiring employees for the re-opening since the restaurant has been closed? Are you hiring now and how can others apply?
While closed, we offered employees at this restaurant the opportunity to work at other locations nearby and provided transportation if they needed it. We are currently hiring crew members, guest experience leaders, shift leaders and assistant and general managers. The easiest way to apply is to text “WA51” to 38000.

Is there any other news about the store that you’d like to pass along? (Such as the students that are excited for the re-opening, special promotions you will have for the grand opening, etc.)
We missed welcoming everyone back! We will be thrilled to see Cascade High and Evergreen Middle School students after school. Once we reopen, we plan to run a reopening promotion with deals and discounts. Stay tuned.

Meanwhile at the Burger King about a mile south at 8525 Evergreen Way they still aren’t able to serve beef.

They had a fire in above their grill that got into their duct system back on the first of May.

While they were able to do a work-around in the kitchen so they can serve their chicken, fries, sodas and shakes, they are still not able to flame-broil burgers.

Word is they’re getting closer but are not yet there. We’ll let you know when they’re back to full strength.
