Here’s Our Annual Fireworks Are Illegal In Everett, Washington Story

Yep. Fireworks are illegal within the city limits of Everett, Washington. This is actually the 25th anniversary of the ban which went into effect in 1997. New to many is that fireworks are also banned in southwest Snohomish County including the unincorporated area just south of the Everett city limits. Here’s a map showing where fireworks are banned in Everett and southwest Snohomish County. We’ve also attached an FAQ from the City of Everett covering the city’s fireworks ban.

1. Are fireworks allowed in Everett?
No. Fireworks are illegal year-round in Everett, including southwest Snohomish County.

2. Is Everett hosting a Fourth of July event with fireworks?
Yes! The City of Everett is hosting the annual Fourth of July festival at Legion Memorial Park with live music, food trucks, a beer garden and fun for the whole family. Festivities begin at 3pm with the fireworks display planned for 10:30pm. More information at visiteverett.com/july4

3. What happens if I’m contacted by police/fire for possession or discharge of fireworks?
Violator’s fireworks can be confiscated, and you may be criminally cited. Penalties include criminal citations with large fines and/or jail time.

4. What if my neighbors are lighting off fireworks in a banned area?
Fireworks are illegal year-round in Everett and unincorporated southwest Snohomish County.

To report the illegal discharge of fireworks, call the non-emergency number: 425-407-3999.

If there is an immediate threat to life or property, including fire or injuries, call 911.

5. What should I do if I find fireworks?
Report it by calling the non-emergency number: 425-407-3999. Police/fire will respond as call load allows to confiscate the fireworks. In an emergency, call 911.

6. What should I do if I find a piece of pipe with a fuse coming out of it?
Leave the device where it is, do not pick it up and immediately call 911.

7. Are sky lanterns allowed?
No sky lanterns are banned in Washington. They pose a high fire risk.

8. What do I do if a firework started a fire?
If a house is involved, alert the homeowners to get out and stay out, and immediately call 911.

9. What should I do if someone is lighting off fireworks before or after the 4th of July?
Fireworks are illegal year-round in Everett and unincorporated southwest Snohomish County. That includes on and around the Fourth of July!

10. Are novelty fireworks like pop-its allowed?
Novelty or trick devices like “pop-its” and “snappers” are OK to use in most areas.

Everett’s annual July 4th celebration is happening at Legion Park in north Everett starting at 3:00 PM with a dozen food trucks, activities for the kids, live music, a beer garden and a great spot to view the Thunder on the Bay Fireworks display which is set to start at 10:00 PM.
