A press release this morning from the Snohomish Multi Agency Response Team sheds more light on reports of a Snohomish County Deputy firing their weapon in a grocery store parking lot in the Silver Firs neighborhood Tuesday afternoon

The incident happened on 134th SE east of Everett.

Detectives with the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) have been requested to investigate a use of deadly force incident, which occurred in unincorporated Everett on April 12, 2022.

The incident began at approximately 5:20pm with deputies from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responding to a welfare check in the parking lot of a shopping center located on the 5800 block of 134th PL SE. Upon arrival, deputies found a man sitting in a parked car. Deputies immediately ran the license plate and determined the vehicle was stolen.

Deputies attempted to make contact with the man in the vehicle, giving him verbal commands. The man began to maneuver his vehicle, ramming multiple police vehicles and a bystander vehicle. At that time, a deputy fired one shot into the vehicle, which missed the man. After the deputy fired his weapon, the man complied, was taken into custody, and was transported to the Snohomish County Jail.

In total four deputies were involved in this incident.
