Today is the Memorial Service for Officer Dan Rocha of the Everett Police Department. He was killed in the line of duty on Friday March 25th while protecting the citizens of Everett, Washington. Today the city will say thank you.

The Memorial Service will begin at 1 PM at Angel of the Winds Arena in downtown Everett. The doors will open at 12 Noon and the public is invited. Prior to the service there will be a processional leaving the area of the Everett Mall at approximately 11 AM travelling west to Evergreen Way and then north on Evergreen and Rucker in downtown Everett. Best view is expected along the east side of Evergreen and Rucker prior to Pacific. For maps and parking restrictions downtown or to learn how to donate to the Dan Rocha Memorial Fund here is a website maintained by the City of Everett.

Officers from around the United States and Canada will be participating in the procession. Several stopped by the memorial in front of the Everett Police Department at Wall and Rucker last night. Today is the final day the Memorial will be available to visit.

By the way if you call 911 today in Everett, Washington your call may be answered by a Deputy Sheriff or officer from a nearby city. Surrounding agencies are covering most calls in Everett so the Everett Police Officers can attend the service.

My request of you today is if you have any photos you’d like to share of the processional or service to please to so with us via email at news@myeverettnews.com. I’ll be shooting a lot of photos but won’t be able to shoot the procession or some of the events outside of the Arena so I’d appreciate any photos you’d care to share. My coverage today will be light as I’ll be taking photos but will update and significant developments on our Twitter Feed. We’ll have a full recap on Tuesday.

Thanks to all for picking up bulbs, turning Everett blue and honoring Officer Rocha and the Everett Police Department. Leland Dart – Publisher.
