It’s hard to miss the colorful shop on Colby just north of 23rd.

Brenda Humbert has created a unique environment for the Barber Shop Stop.

It’s hard to miss the Barber Shop Stop at 2228 Colby north of downtown Everett, Washington.

Since 2018 Brenda Humbert has been brightening the space next to Welch’s Foods.

Prior to that her shop was located in the 5700 block of Evergreen Way in central Everett.

Humbert is an Everett girl who grew up in the neighborhood around 19th and Walnut.

She’s a 1983 graduate of Cascade High School and worked in Monroe, Duvall and Redmond before opening her first shop in Everett in 2014.

A licensed cosmetologist, she prefers the term barber. “I only like to cut hair,” she said during our visit on Friday. “Many of my current clients were once my high school teachers and now I make them raise their hands before talking to me from the chair.”

The shop itself is a visual wonderland with clocks, seashells and dozens of photos of Everett streetscapes and storefronts taken over the years. Outside, plants in a variety of colorful containers surround the shop.

Like most good barbers she tends to listen more than talk and has a gift for engaging the conversation.

Services provided include straight razor neck shaves, hot mint-conditioned towels, trims, business cuts, clipper cuts, scissor cuts, tapers, fades, and cheap but great buzz cuts. Cuts for men & boys 12 years and up, discounts for Seniors (60+)

They are open Tuesday – Saturday and appointments include call ahead, text ahead and drop-in service. The phone number is (425) 760-0531.
