Shortly after 6 PM a man wearing a gun belt became belligerent with staff inside the gym.
There was a basketball game going on and coaches and staffers ended up physically containing the man and keeping him away from the gun which was later determined to be fake.
A dozen Everett Police officers responded, and the gym was evacuated. There were also allegations of an explosive device so officers did a sweep of the school out of what police spokesman Kerby Duncan says was an abundance of caution. Nothing was found.
Duncan says the man appeared to be having a mental health crisis. He was in his 40s and is not believed to have any affiliation with the school. He was arrested for felony harassment and bomb threats and was taken to an Everett hospital for clearance to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
There were no injuries to any students, staff or attendees at the basketball game.
