Yesterday, an adult male suspect was in an Everett home when he threated to kill a family member and pointed a gun. The suspect then stole the family member’s RV and fled before law enforcement arrived.

Everett PD developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for felony assault, felony harassment – threats to kill DV, and theft of a motor vehicle. The suspect was known to be armed with a handgun and was reported to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Everett PD located the suspect driving the stolen RV, attempted a traffic stop and the suspect fled. Mukilteo PD also located the suspect vehicle and engaged in a short pursuit before the suspect eluded again. Around 6:30 p.m. a Sheriff’s Office deputy located the suspect driving the stolen RV near Fryelands Blvd and SR 2 in Monroe.

The deputy activated his emergency lights and shortly after, the RV crashed into a ditch in the 15400 block of Roosevelt Rd. Deputies performed a high-risk stop and gave verbal commands for the suspect to exit the RV. Deputies attempted to negotiate with the suspect, but he remained barricaded inside. Deputies formed a contact team to use time, distance and shielding, and requested additional units and less-lethal resources.

After some time, the suspect climbed out one of the RV windows and stood on the windowsill. Deputies gave commands for the suspect to get on the ground, but he refused to comply. The suspect was struck with several less-lethal pepper ball rounds, but he fought through the pepper balls and climbed onto the roof of the RV. He then slid down the backside of the RV and fled on foot into a farm field.

K-9 Dico was on scene and was immediately deployed to follow the suspect. The deputy gave verbal commands for the suspect to surrender, or he would be bit by a K-9. The suspect refused to follow commands and continued to flee. K-9 Dico’s handler gave him a command to apprehend the suspect. K-9 Dico immediately closed the distance on the suspect, bit the suspect’s leg and apprehended him on the ground. Deputies took control of the suspect’s arms and he was taken into custody without further incident. Deputies located a loaded pistol and a full magazine in the suspect’s front waistband.

The suspect was treated by aid on scene and was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center for a clearance to book. Everett PD responded to the hospital and took custody of the suspect. He was transported and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for second-degree assault DV, felony harassment – threats to kill DV, attempt to elude, and theft of a motor vehicle.
