Spent a few minutes Saturday morning talking with “Hyper” a professional mural artist who was putting the finishing touches on a new mural on the side of the Screen Printing Northwest building at 26th and Colby in downtown Everett, Washington.

For the past two weeks he and two other artists, “Spawk” and “Faust” have been working on a mural commissioned by the City of Everett.

“Rise Everett We can make it here” joins other murals in downtown as the City works to build a Creative District in Everett.

The mural depicts a Phoenix rising, unique letter fonts and structures developed by the artists involved and a landscape stretching from Port Gardner Bay to the Cascade Mountains.

“Hyper” has worked as a professional graffiti artist since 1988 and been a professional mural artist for the past decade with works in cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin and Seattle.

He’s also a speaker and educator promoting and mentoring new artists and teaching young people how to grow their craft and develop a career.
