The car does not have a light bar on top.

It is equipped to transport prisoners.

Today the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office released photos of a new Tesla electric vehicle for use on patrol. The car included a cage in the back so it is able to transport prisoners. Here’s what Snohomish County Sheriff Adam Fortney has to say about the car on social media.

The Sheriffs Office first Tesla was issued to Deputy Mashburn today. This was over a year in the making and I have to give credit to Dean at the county shop for outfitting this new car for patrol. While there are other police agencies utilizing the Tesla, I am not aware of another agency that has outfitted one as a fully ready patrol car able to transport prisoners. You made it happen!

All of the folks at the shop keep our fleet moving everyday and they don’t get enough credit. Thank you!
Special thanks to Councilman Sam Low for his efforts in getting this Tesla approved through council in 2020. It took a while but we made it happen!
