Police Blotter

A disturbing news release out from Everett Police late Tuesday afternoon.

Special Assault detectives arrest caregiver for sexual assault in Everett.

This morning, detectives arrested a 30 year-old male caregiver and booked him into the Snohomish County Jail on probable cause for rape 2 (RCW 9A.44.050).

On the morning of September 7th, 2021, an employee at an assisted living memory care facility in the 4200 block of Colby Ave believed an 81 year-old female resident had been sexually assaulted. The employee immediately contacted her supervisor and the facility called police. The resident was taken to a local hospital for a sexual assault examination.

The resident has dementia, Alzheimer’s and other medical ailments. She speaks limited English and had no memory of anything happening.

During their investigation, detectives obtained DNA swabs from the two male caregivers on-duty the evening of the assault. The results of the Washington State Crime Lab report subsequently showed strong support that one of them, a 30-year-old Lynnwood man, had sexual intercourse with the resident.

The facility placed the male caregivers on leave during the investigation.
