EPD warns of an uptick in thefts as people shop in Everett.

Another Criminal Activity Alert issued by Everett Police after seeing an uptick in thefts from people out shopping.

CRIMINAL ACTIVITY ALERT:
Financial Crimes detectives have noticed an increase of purse &/or bank card thefts from shopping carts. Victim’s often report being distracted by someone while shopping and not know anything was taken until they attempt to pay for merchandise. By the time victims retrace their steps to find a lost wallet and contact their financial institution, their account has been used online or at a nearby business. No suspects or patterns of time/day have been established yet.
Remember: When shopping, be aware of your surroundings and don’t leave personal valuables in the shopping cart.
