Increase In DUI Crashes Prompting Emphasis Patrols In Everett Area This Weekend

September 24, 2021

Police Blotter

Word in today from the Snohomish County Target Zero Task Force that Everett Police will be joining with several other law enforcement agencies in DUI emphasis patrols this weekend.

The hope is to avoid adding more broken hearts to the DUI Victim’s Memorial Wall in Everett.

The Snohomish County DUI and Target Zero Task Force will be conducting DUI emphasis patrols Friday September 24th,  2021  and Saturday September 25th, 2021 from 8pm-4am.  Representatives from Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol,  Arlington Police Department, Everett Police Department  and Lynnwood Police Department will be doing high visibility patrols throughout the county.

In Snohomish County, we are deeply concerned by the increase in impaired drivers on our roadways.  From 2019 to 2020 we saw an 8% increase of DUI fatalities and a 55% increase in DUI Serious injury crashes.

Patrols will be looking for drivers impaired by alcohol, legal marijuana or other illegal drugs.  Target Zero is the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission’s plan for zero traffic related deaths and serious injuries by 2030.  More information can be found on our regional website www.SnoCoTargetZero.org and  www.targetzero.com

Patrol updates will tweeted as available on the Snohomish County Target Zero Twitter account @SnoCoTargetZero
