Detectives with the Everett Police Department Traffic Safety Unit are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle on the northbound bridge over 529.

Just before 1:30 AM Everett Fire and Police were called to a report of a motorcyclist who had crashed into a vehicle and been thrown off the bridge into the Snohomish River.

Everett Police responded to the scene and began searching the river from the bridge and along the shore to the east of the bridge. Firefighters and rescue swimmers with Everett Fire launched Marine 1 and responded to the scene.

After some time the crew on Marine 1 located the motorcyclist in the river. They were able to get the rider onto the boat and began CPR while returning to the 10th street boat ramp.

There they were met by additional crews who transported the rider to Providence Regional Medical Center. Efforts to revive the rider were unsuccessful. Those in the vehicle struck by the motorcycle were not injured and stayed on scene with Everett Police. Northbound 529 between Everett and Marysville was closed for several hours while detectives investigated.
