Burning Wood Chip Pile Sending Smoke Across Everett

Since late Saturday night a burning pile of wood chips at the Cedar Grove complex north of the Snohomish River has been sending smoke across the city of Everett, Washington.

Everett Fire has been out there a couple of times and the company has a crew on site working on the pile.

Winds have blown smoke directly into north Everett all night and the smell of smoke is quite strong.

You may want to keep your windows closed as this will likely go on most of the day Sunday.

Everett Fire officials say this type of fire can happen when environmental conditions are like what we are experiencing now – hot, dry, and no rain. This was not an intentional burn of the wood chip piles.
