Garage Fire Monday Night Reveals Suspected Meth Lab In Everett

Police Blotter

On Monday night Everett Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a garage in the 3300 block of Rockefeller. Responding Everett Fire crews found what appeared to be a fire inside the garage that had been extinguished by the sprinkler system.

As the fire investigation started inspectors found what was believed to be a clandestine laboratory for methamphetamine. After their initial sweep they found little to no fire damage and requested police to respond.

Everett Police spokesperson Kerby Duncan tells MyEverettNews.com at least two people were detained Monday night but they were not the people who rented the unit where the lab was found and claimed to have no knowledge of it. Both were released to be checked at the hospital.

On Tuesday morning the Snohomish Regional Drug and Gang Task Force responded and served a warrant at the garage. Duncan says items were recovered during the warrant that were consistent with a lab. The items have been sent to a WSP crime lab for further evaluation. No probable cause to arrest anyone for the lab exists yet as testing is still ongoing.

The Department of Ecology also responded Tuesday morning to make sure there were no environmental hazards.
