Everett firefighters work on putting out the flames on the back of the building.

Firefighters had to enter some upstairs rooms that had filled with smoke.

Shortly before 10 PM Monday night Sno911 began receiving calls of smoke coming from the Days Inn Hotel in the 1600 block of Everett Mall Way.

Trees on the north side of the building were reportedly on fire with smoke getting into some of the units.

Everett Fire crews found smoke and flames coming from an area on the north side of the hotel building and the Sherwin-Williams Paint store.

Due to the nature of the building, with so many staying there, a second alarm was called and firefighters from South County Fire assisted Everett Fire crews.

Fire had begun climbing up the side of the building and into the eaves of the hotel.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring it under control.

Firefighters removed siding from the back side of the building and also opened up the ceiling in a couple of the second floor hotel rooms in order to access hot spots. Some rooms suffered smoke and water damage.

There were no injuries and an investigator with Everett Fire was called out to determine what caused the blaze.

Everett Mall Way was closed and traffic diverted through the Wal-Mart lot for a little more than an hour.
