After Day 2 Of Filing Here’s Update On Everett Candidates

Filing opened Monday and continues to close of business Friday for several elected positions on the ballot this fall in Everett, Washington. This is a historic election as this is the first time a majority of the Everett City Council will be elected in five separate districts. The two city-wide positions will be on the ballot in 2023.

Here’s the list so far. All positions are non-partisan.

Mayor of Everett: Cassie Franklin, incumbent
City Council District 1: Paul Roberts, incumbent
City Council District 1: Mary Fosse, challenger
City Council District 2: Paula Rhyne, open seat
City Council District 2: Greg Lineberry, open seat
City Council District 3: Jacob L. Vail, open seat
City Council District 3: Don Schwab, open seat
City Council District 4: Liz Vogeli, incumbent
City Council District 5: Demi Chatters, open seat
City Council District 5: Ben Zarlingo, open seat
Municipal Court Judge Position 1: Amy Kaestner, incumbent
Municipal Court Judge Position 2: Lauar Van Slyck, incumbent
Everett School District #2 Director-at-Large Position 3: Caroline Mason, incumbent
Everett School District #2 Director-at-Large Position 3: Jeannie Magdua, challenger
Everett School District #2 Director-at-Large Position 4: Traci Mitchell, incumbent
Everett School District #2 Director-at-Large Position 4: Charles Mister, Jr., challenger
Everett School District #2 Director-at-Large Position 4: Janelle Burke, challenger
Port of Everett Commissioner District 1: David Simpson, incumbent
Port of Everett Commissioner District 1: Scott Murphy, challenger

This is a top 2 primary with the election on August 3rd with the top two candidates for each office advancing to the general election in November.
