Flames were coming out of the building when firefighters arrived.

The fire was contained to the smaller building.

An investigator was on scene last night trying to determine the cause of a fire at the former NOAA research lab on the Mukilteo waterfront.

The fire was reported about 7:45 PM and arriving Mukilteo crews found smoke and flames coming from a small building on the north end of the lab.

A ladder and engines from Everett Fire were also dispatched.

Firefighters got a quick knockdown and had it under control in about 30 minutes. There were no injuries.
