When COVID-19 hampered the ability of fine arts students at Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett, Washington from putting on a musical or play they didn’t give up. They made a movie. And it’s about to be released.
Love at first ZOOM premieres May 21st at the Historic Everett Theatre.
Archbishop Murphy High School in South Everett has been producing plays and musicals that have entertained audiences for 25 years. This year, COVID has brought fine arts productions to a stop at schools and theatres across the region. AMHS however, has a creative and delightful solution – they have produced their own full-length feature film – “Love at First Zoom.”
As a romantic comedy in the midst of the pandemic, “Love at First Zoom” is a hilarious and heartfelt story of a class of students trying to maintain normalcy in this time of chaos. They struggle as they are forced to stay home, start school virtually, then transition to part-time at their school. During these trying times, they still laugh, make friends – and get into trouble – with hysterical results.
AMHS has produced this film while maintaining strict adherence to COVID limitations. The creativity of the film and the unique conditions and requirements for filming proved to be a challenge, but the results are exceptional.
“Love at First Zoom” will have a formal premier at the Historic Everett Theatre (2911 Colby, Everett) on May 21st at 7:00. Additional showings at Historic Everett Theatre and Stanwood Cinemas are listed below.
