Wednesday night the Everett City Council unanimously agreed to a contract that will allow the YMCA of Snohomish County to operate the facilities at the Camp Patterson site at Thornton A. Sullivan Park at Silver Lake.

The YMCA can use the Camp Patterson facilities Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM from June 15th to September 14 every year for the next five years. The YMCA will pay a base rate of $780.00 a week for any weeks when camp is held. If there is no camp during a week the YMCA will not have to pay the fee. There are additional charges for weeks where the number of campers exceeds sixty.

The City of Everett retains the right to rent out the Shelter Area and Silver Hall at times and dates when the YMCA is not using the camp (such as evenings and weekends).

The base term is for five years with two five-year extensions.

The City is looking for additional revenues by creating partnerships with various public and private groups for use of city-owned facilities. The agreement with the “Y” is one more in a series.

More partnerships may come this year including an agreement with the Volunteers of America to operate the Senior Center and there’s also a company interested in operating an outdoor adventure course located within Forest Park. Both are still under discussion but may come before the Everett City Council this summer.
