An Everett Police Officer on Juniper Drive Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday we told you about an assault on Juniper Drive under investigation by Major Crimes Detectives from the Everett Police Department. Yesterday we reported the suspect had been located. This afternoon Everett Police announced that the victim in the assault has died. Here is the latest.

An assault victim has died in Everett.

At about 1:00 p.m. on March 7, 2021, detectives believe Sable Rodriguez entered a residence in the 7500 block of Juniper Dr where he had recently been evicted by roommates due to his decreased mental stability and increased erratic, dangerous behavior. While inside, Rodriguez attacked one of his ex-roommates with a large metal tool.

The victim tried defending himself with a shovel, but Rodriguez took it and continued assaulting the victim with it. Rodriguez left the residence when 911 was called. Due to injuries sustained, the victim was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

Based on their investigation, Major Crimes detectives developed probable cause to arrest Rodriguez for assault. A public bulletin was issued which helped facilitate an arrest in Vancouver, WA on March 8, 2021.

Since the incident, the adult male victim remained in the hospital where he died from injuries sustained during the assault. As detectives continue their investigation, they will recommend amending the criminal charges from assault to murder.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will take custody of the deceased to determine identity as well as cause and manner of death. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Everett Police Department Tip Line at 425-257-8450.
