Container Ship Waiting In Port Gardner Bay On Way To Vancouver B.C.
Editor’s Update Tuesday Feb 9th 1:20 PM: Just got a note from Catherine Soper that the Seaspan Brilliance is actually headed to Vancouver B.C. from Tacoma and is expected to leave Port Gardner Bay tomorrow.
The Seaspan Brilliance is sitting in a Federal Anchorage area off the Port of Everett. Click photo to enlarge.
The containers on that ship are significantly larger than those on the pier at the south marina.
Had a few calls over the weekend from people wondering why that large container ship was anchored in Port Gardner Bay.
The Ship is the Seaspan Brilliance out of Hong Kong. We checked with Catherine Soper at the Port of Everett who advised that the vessel was headed to the Port of Tacoma but has been waiting for berth availability there.
Soper adds, “The area where the ship is currently located in the bay is designated federal anchorage, you may recall seeing ships there in the past when there was congestion at other ports to the south or north of us.”
