Ice preparation is underway for hometown hockey without the fans for the Everett Silvertips.

Word in that hockey will return to Everett as the U.S. Division begins play beginning March 19th. Here’s a brief bit of information taken from a press release issued Friday by the Western Hockey League and posted on the Everett Silvertips website.

“We’ve made progress one day at a time to be creative with opportunities to allow our players to return while relentlessly pursuing safety measures to avoid COVID-19 and its spread,” said Consolidated Sports Holdings chief operating officer Zoran Rajcic. “Our fans remain such an important part of us and over the next several weeks, we expect to share important updates intended to refresh our lines of engagement. For now, we’re going to return to play, and those are words we’ve longed to share.”

The WHL’s five U.S. Division teams – the Everett Silvertips, Portland Winterhawks, Seattle Thunderbirds, Spokane Chiefs, and Tri-City Americans – will play games exclusively within the Division during the 2020-21 Regular Season. The 2020-21 WHL Regular Season schedule for the U.S. Division will be announced at a later date.

As the WHL returns to play in Washington State, no spectators will be permitted to enter WHL facilities.
