Rollout of Everett Police Body Worn Cameras Underway
All EPD patrol officers will be equipped by Feb. 11th.
On Monday the first five body worn cameras were issued to Everett Police patrol officers. By February 11th an additional 104 cameras will be deployed.
Last year Everett Police ran a pilot project which proved successful and were able to land a Federal Department of Justice grant in November for $300,000.00 to cover start up costs.
Annual costs are anticipated to be approximately $270K for software, licensing, cloud storage and equipment.
Last fall Everett Police Chief Dan Templeman has this to say about the cameras, “While the cost of these cameras is high, we believe that the benefit of transparency and mitigation of injuries and liability make the expenses worth the investment.”
