Burglar Breaks In, Passes Out, On Sacramental Wine At Everett Church

Members of an Everett church got an unwanted surprise yesterday morning while setting up for Sunday Services.

nighttime burglarAccording to probable cause papers filed by police in Everett, Washington, a member of a central Everett church arrived Sunday morning and found the glass broken in an entry door and a man on the floor inside the church. She called Everett Police.

Everett Police officers arrived and confirmed forced entry and located the man who was passed out apparently from drinking the church’s sacramental wine discovered inside.

They roused him and he refused to provide any identifying information or speak with them.

Officers arrested the man for suspicion of burglary and transported him to the Snohomish County Jail where they identified him as an Everett man in his early 40’s.

An officer wrote in the probable cause papers: “due to the circumstances there was probable cause to believe that he forced entry into the property, remained on the property without permission and committed additional theft by consuming wine belonging to the church.”

The man is expected to make a court appearance Monday afternoon.
