Everett City Council Member Elizabeth (Liz) Vogeli formally announced her intent to run for re-election to the Everett City Council. She has filed with the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) to run for the newly established District 4 position, which encompasses the Westmont and Holly Neighborhoods and parts of Cascade View and Twin Creeks Neighborhoods in South Everett. Her announcement is provided below:

Friends and Community Members,

I am excited to announce my candidacy for re-election to Everett City Council, District 4! I have enjoyed bringing a fresh perspective to our council as well as being a strong voice for the working class, those on fixed incomes, the young, the old, and the in-between of Everett. I look forward to serving a full 4-year term while continuing to advocate for my district and all of Everett as well as working for small business owners, homeowners, renters, and those often overlooked in our beautiful city.

We have serious issues facing us including:

1. a continuing budget deficit which leads to service disruptions and citywide unemployment,

2. a pandemic that exacerbates the above (as well as a number of pre-existing infrastructure issues) and

3. continued injustice in housing, healthcare, public safety, and transportation.

I don’t see any easy or quick answers. What I do see is a fantastic opportunity to disrupt our current systems and really work towards creative solutions that give us all the chance for a truly better future.

I can and will continue with your support. That said, financially -speaking we’ve all had to jump through some incredible hurdles to make ends meet and to survive this past year. For that reason, I will be fundraising and spending no more than $5000 dollars and will only be accepting donations of up to $50 dollars per person or organization. I have the signs, hardware, and t-shirts from my past campaigns. All I need is you, your voice and your ideas!

Will you join me? Will you be a part of the Everett we’re building together? Together we will grow stronger and show that no matter who you are or where you came from, you belong here.

In kindness and respect,

Liz Vogeli

Council Member Vogeli has received a number of early endorsements from local elected leaders including current Mayor of Everett Cassie Franklin, US Congressman Rick Larsen, State Representatives John Lovick (44) and Lilian Ortiz-Self (21), Westmont/Holly Neighborhood Leader Linda War Bonnet and various Everett residents, small business owners and community members.
