Shortly after 8:30 PM the Washington State Patrol put out a help the officer call after one of their Troopers had a window shot out of one of their SUVs in the area near the I-5 off ramp to Everett Mall Way. The person who shot into the window was reported to be on foot and headed west on Everett Mall Way near the cemetery.
Washington State Patrol Troopers, Everett Police and Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area. As some Everett Police were coming out of the south precinct on West Mall Drive they encountered a man standing in the parking lot to the east above the precinct shooting a pellet gun at patrol vehicles parked at the precinct. At least one vehicle had damage. The man then ran south from West Mall Drive and over to the parking lot at the Everett Mall.
The man went north through the parking lot and continued to shout at officers and shoot the pellet gun at them. A K-9 and less lethal weapon were both deployed and the man was taken into custody. He was looked at by medics and them transported to Providence Regional Medical Center to be checked over before being booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
The man was believed to be in his mid 30s from north Everett and Everett Police say they are looking into the mental health status of the man and are working with Washington State Patrol to determine what charges the man may face. He’s expected to have a hearing before a judge tomorrow afternoon. Again no officers were injured.
