An early morning domestic violence call turned into a day-long standoff in the Forest Park neighborhood in Everett, Washington on Tuesday.

Around 7:30 AM Everett Police were called to an address on Federal Avenue to a report of domestic violence. After the domestic violence incident the suspect reportedly barricaded himself in a room on the upper level of the home and made various threats including use of a weapon.

Patrol officers blocked off Federal Avenue between Mukilteo Boulevard and 43rd street. Officers spent hours trying to communicate with the man inside and around 1 PM the Region 1 SWAT Team was called to the scene.

Negotiators tried talking with the man and eventually irritants were shot into the upper windows of the home in an attempt to have the man come out. That continued throughout the afternoon and around 5 PM SWAT Team members entered the house and brought the man outside.

He was checked over by medics and this evening booked into the Snohomish County Jail on multiple complaints including felony level domestic violence. He’s expected to make a first court appearance on Wednesday afternoon.
