The victim was found in the south parking lot across from the Everett Animal Shelter

Everett Police say they have no new information to release about a fatal shooting Monday afternoon at Langus Riverfront Park. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office did release the identity of the victim today.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed the examination and confirmed the identification of the 56-year-old male found near the 400 block of Smith Island Road in Everett, Washington on August 31st, 2020. The decedent is James R. Scannell of Everett, Washington. The cause of death is a gunshot wound. The manner of death is Homicide.
