There were no injuries and Everett Fire crews kept neighboring buildings safe but a fire early Saturday morning did extensive damage to a multi-unit building in the 3200 block of Lombard Avenue.

About 1:20AM multiple calls came into Snohomish 911 for smoke and flames coming from the structure which was vacant and in the process of being remodeled.

Apartments on either side of the structure were evacuated as firefighters began an offensive attack. There was heavy fire in the attic of the three-story building. Because of the remodeling conditions inside the building were extremely dangerous with holes in some of the floors.

At one point crews were called out of the building and firefighters took on a defensive attack using an aerial ladder on one side of the building and a deck gun on the other to control flames shooting through the roof.

It took crews about three hours to hit all of the hot spots and a fire watch was put into effect overnight.

An investigator has been dispatched to the scene to try and determine the cause of the fire.
