Curbside Service Coming To South Everett Library On Monday

July 2, 2020

Everett

Good news for readers in south Everett!

It’s not the return of the Library drill team but still good news.

Everett Public Library has been offering limited curbside library service at  the Main Library location since June 15. According to the Washington State Safe Start Plan, libraries are allowed to provide limited services in accordance with strict health and safety guidelines.

On Monday, July 6, Everett Public Library will expand its curbside borrowing and return service to the Evergreen Branch library, located at 9512 Evergreen Way.

The Evergreen Branch library will provide curbside service four days per week. Evergreen Branch library hours will be:

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Evergreen Branch library service hours will operate in addition to service at the Main Library, located at 2702 Hoyt Ave. The Main Library operates curbside service six days per week.  Main Library hours are:

Monday through Friday, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Curbside library services will be offered at each library location in accordance with all local and state health and safety guidelines issued for public libraries.

Everett Public Library customers are invited to request library materials by logging onto their accounts at www.epls.org or by calling 425-257-8000. Customers are alerted when requested items are available for check-out. Customers call a posted phone number at their preferred library when they have arrived, and library staff will deliver materials to them. Curbside service  is a socially distant, contactless service. In accordance with health and safety guidelines, library staff will wear face covering and maintain at least six feet of distance from customers.

During curbside service hours, returns will be accepted in specially marked bins at each location. Customers may place items into the bins, as staff are not allowed to directly handle newly returned items. Customers are encouraged to wear face coverings when picking up or returning library materials.

Local and state guidelines require library materials be quarantined before being loaned to another customer. Customers should expect returned items to remain on their accounts for at least 72 hours. Due to the quarantine requirements, there may be a delay in making requested materials available.

Due dates on materials checked out in March or earlier have been automatically extended until August 31, 2020. Library materials may be returned before that date, but customers are encouraged to keep materials at home.

Library staff are available by phone to answer reference questions, recommend library materials, help place holds on items, and answer account questions.  Phone lines are open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Customers are encouraged to call 425-257-8000 to ask questions and receive assistance.

Everett Public Library’s buildings and collections were closed to the public on March 12, 2020, due to the COVID-19 health crisis. During this closure, staff have provided access to electronic resources and virtual programs on the library’s website and social media sites.

“We look forward to increasing our library services to the Evergreen Branch,” said Everett Public Library director Abigail Cooley. “Since starting this service last month at the Main Library, we have delivered library materials to hundreds of community members. We know that there are many more community members who rely on our Evergreen Branch for information, education, and entertainment. We looking forward to serving them again soon.”
