Everett Public Library will present an online screening of the PBS documentary “American Creed” followed by a community conversation. The film screening will take place online on Tuesday, June 30 at 6 p.m. followed by a moderated panel discussion at 7 p.m.

“American Creed” shares the stories of unlikely activists who bring their communities together and confront the nation’s deepest divides. Condoleezza Rice and David M. Kennedy come together from different perspectives to shed light on these stories, and what it means to be an American in turbulent time. “American Creed” invites communities to engage in difficult and increasingly urgent conversations.

Following the film screening, Dr. Robert Richardson, clinical assistant professor in the Murrow College of Communication at WSU Everett, will moderate a panel discussion. The panel includes community leaders representing diverse views and voices. Panelists are: Dr. Ciera Graham, Everett Community College’s East Campus director; Keny Lopez de Zuleta, program manager at Lutheran Services Northwest; and State Representative Emily Wicks, representative for Washington’s 38th legislative district. Together they will consider the questions posed by the film and connect the film’s themes to local issues and concerns.

This program is free and open to the public and will take place online at: https://ovee.itvs.org/screenings/f0cjd. The OVEE platform provides a safe, shared media viewing experience that combines livestream content with community-building conversation. To participate, community members will require a device with an internet connection.
This program is made possible with support from Citizen Film and the Friends of the Everett Public Library. For more information, visit the library’s Facebook page or events calendar.
