At about 10:40 p.m. on Sunday night, officers responded to a residence in the 6500 block of Beverly Ln when 911 received reports of gunshots and screaming. Arriving officers detained a 35 year-old man and found an injured male, in his late 20’s, inside the residence.

Major Crimes detectives continue investigating the incident but believe the 35 year-old was hosting a neighborhood party when the victim and a 28 year-old woman walked by the residence. They were both invited to join the party, which they did.

During the party, the host made sexual advances. Feeling uncomfortable, the two started leaving but were confronted by the 35 year-old who demanded their personal belongings at gunpoint. The victim stepped in front of the female and was shot multiple times. The female ran from the residence screaming for help.

Both responding officers and Everett Fire provided immediate life-saving measures, but the victim died at the scene.

The 35 year-old male was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on probable cause for murder.

Neither the victim nor the 28 year-old woman knew the suspect.
