Have you been approached by someone offering gold jewelry for cash?

The Washington State Patrol today is asking for the public’s help as they look to track down scammers who are targeting motorists in Everett, Snohomish County and Skagit County. Here are the details.

For the last several weeks, Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers in both Snohomish and Skagit Counties have been working tirelessly to track down a known criminal enterprise happening in our region. We’ve received several 9-1-1 calls regarding people stopping traffic on freeway interchange ramps as well as following people into parking lots begging for money in exchange for gold jewelry. This is a nationwide issue that has trickled into our area.

We have been in contact with victims that have been scammed out of money by this criminal enterprise and we have started an investigation that remains ongoing. We are asking for anyone that has more information, including dash-cam video of these incidents, to come forward so that our investigation can bring justice to those who have fell victim. If you or someone you know has information regarding this investigation, please email Trooper Heather Axtman at heather.axtman@ wsp.wa.gov or call her at (425) 583-9978.
