The City of Everett is opening its two public golf courses but the rules have been changed to accommodate social distancing. Here is the announcement on how it will work.

The future of Everett’s two city-owned golf courses has been hanging on the edge.

Everett Parks & Community Services will re-open both Walter E. Hall and Legion Memorial golf courses for limited use on May 5 under Governor Jay Inslee’s new guidance on allowing some outdoor recreation.

Both golf courses will follow new COVID-19 requirements and recommendations for golf courses from Governor Inslee and the Golf Alliance of Washington. New health and safety operations and guidelines will be in place for golf course participants including:

  • Reservations will be available online, via mobile app or by phone only
  • Golf reservations will be limited to twosomes; reservations for foursomes of the same household will also be allowed by phone
  • Only one person will be allowed per cart, unless playing with a minor
  • Participants must bring their own equipment
  • Pack out what you pack in; trash receptacles will not be available
  • No gathering will be allowed; physical distancing rules still apply and golfers will be asked to maintain at least 6 feet from others
  • Golf course restaurants will have food available for take-out only

“We’re excited to open our courses again, but due to limited staffing and physical distancing, golf courses have been minimally maintained under the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order,” said Lori Cummings, executive director of Everett Parks. “We ask guests to manage their expectations and we appreciate their patience during this time.”

Whether golfing or on other errands in the community, community members are advised to follow public health guidance to continue to slow the spread of the coronavirus: stay home you are if sick, wash your hands often with soap and water, cover your face and maintain at least 6 feet from others who are not part of your immediate household.

Visit everettgolf.com for a full list of operational changes and to reserve a tee time. Phone reservations for both courses can be made by calling 425-259-4653.
