On April 9th gunfire tore across a couple of blocks of downtown Everett, Washington. When it was done, one teen was dead, another had been shot in the leg. Today Everett Police announced the arrest of two teens and what they believe the shooting may have been about. Here’s the word as provided by Aaron Snell with Everett PD.

Since the shooting incident in a parking lot at Everett Ave and Rucker Ave where one male was injured and one was killed, detectives with the Major Crimes Unit have continued their investigation. Detectives believe an illegal gun sale was set up where the buyer planned to rob the seller. Both parties arrived armed and accompanied by friends.

As the buyer attempted to rob the seller, about 15 shots were fired between the groups and two men were struck. Both were taken by separate vehicles to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

Detectives developed probable cause to make arrests in the shooting. On Wednesday, a 16 year-old was arrested in Marysville and booked into Denny Juvenile Justice Center. Yesterday, an 18 year-old Everett man was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail. Both arrests were for assault and attempted robbery.

Detectives continue investigating the shooting.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased male as 19 year-old Tyverius Walburn.
