Fatal Hit And Run Crash Shuts Madison And Evergreen

The driver of the SUV ran away on foot but was located and arrested.

Traffic Safety detectives continue investigating a fatal collision in Everett.
Just before 6:15 a.m. this morning, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Evergreen Way and Madison St on the report of a collision. Arriving officers found a collision blocking the northbound lanes of Evergreen Way with an adult male, in his mid-50’s, inside a Chevy S-10 pickup. The driver of the second vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, had fled the scene on foot. Officers provided medical aid to the driver of the pickup, but he died at the scene.
A citizen tip led officers to the 5100 block Elm St where the driver of the Tahoe was captured. The driver, a 29 year-old man, was arrested and booked in the Snohomish County Jail on probable cause for vehicular homicide.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has custody of the deceased male to determine cause and manner of death as well as establish identity and notify the family.
Traffic Safety detectives believe speed and alcohol were factors in the collision. Both involved vehicles have been impounded for the investigation.
Northbound Evergreen Way was closed for about 3 hours while detectives investigated.
No other injuries have been reported in relation to this incident.

Sadly the driver of the pickup was killed.

Editor’s Update 9:00AM: Everett Police Public Information officer Aaron Snell tells MyEverettNews.com this was a fatal hit and run, the suspect ran from the scene but was located and arrested and is expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on felony charges. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will be responsible for releasing the identity of the victim.

The bed came off the back of a small truck in the crash.

Everett Police Detectives have been called out to a serious crash at Madison and Evergreen Way. One of the drivers involved ran from the scene and Everett PD is looking for that person. It happened shortly after 6am and has closed the northbound lanes of Evergreen. More Information as it becomes available.
