During the first two weekends in December, FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Washington hosted Regional Qualifier Competitions across the state. Fifty-two elementary and middle school teams from Everett Public Schools participated in the competition, most competing at Cascade High School on December 14 and 15.

FLL teams are comprised of students in fourth through eighth grade and each FLL team can have up to ten students. Students are guided by two or more coaches to build and program robots as well as research a real-world problem. This year, students participated in the ‘City Shaper’ challenge where students were asked to observe how cities and buildings grow, thrive and change. They created new, innovative solutions to help shape an optimal future, using our environment and modern-day tools and technology to make it last.

Eleven teams were recognized for their City Shaping challenge efforts, listed in the table below, and nine teams will be advancing to the FLL Semi-Final competition hosted by Amazon in downtown Seattle on January 18 and 19, 2020.

The nine teams advancing are the Cedar Wood Cyborgs, Garfield Galactic Tigers, Gateway Lego Guardians Teams Silver, Blue and White, Lowell-Gladiators, N.E.R.D.S. the SMARTIES (North MS), QiiWii N.E.R.D.S. (North MS) and Macho Nacho N.E.R.D.S. (North MS)!
