Stuff a bus has been going on for 15 years.

In what has become a Holiday Tradition Stuff-A-Bus returns next week. Here are the details.

The annual Stuff a Bus charity drive, benefitting local families, returns next week and will be accepting donations Nov. 30 through Dec. 15.

Initiated by the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 883, in partnership with Volunteers of America of Western Washington (VOAWW), Fred Meyer and Everett Transit, the campaign has helped local families for more than 15 years.

“What we really want out of this is to be able to see those in need, in our community, getting the benefits of our efforts, our donations,” said Steve Oss, Everett Transit. “That we are able to take care of our home, here.”

Toys and non-perishable food items will be collected by volunteers between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday from Nov. 30 through Dec. 15 at the Fred Meyer at Murphy’s Corner, 12906 Bothell-Everett Hwy.

Last year, the community donated more than 6,200 pounds of food, 1,760 pounds of non-food items such as clothes and diapers, and more than $20,000 in toy and cash donations.

“For me, the most magical part is when a child drops off a gift that they’ve picked out, knowing that means another child will have a present to open,” said Jessica Moore, Volunteers of America.
