Everett Mayor Presents 2020 Budget Address

7:45 PM Editor’s Update: There were no speakers in the first public hearing on the budget tonight. There is another public hearing next Wednesday night.

Today Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin gave her 2020 budget address. The Mayor was joined by Scott Murphy who is the chair of the Everett City Council budget committee. The address runs about 15 minutes with some Q+A from reporters at the end of the address. The Mayor spoke of reductions in the structural budget deficit and said more work needs to be done. Murphy said the low-hanging fruit when it comes to cuts has been picked and some hard choices are ahead.

There are three budget hearings open to the public with the first tonight and the remaining in the next two weeks.
