Everett Business Openings, Closings And A Little Speculation

Everett

Every now and then we like to poke through the applications and permits at the City of Everett. Especially when people ask us, “Do you know what is happening here?” We’ve got a few answers but other questions will have to wait on confirmation.

The Amber Lite Tavern is for sale.

It doesn’t look much different inside or out from when it opened in the mid-sixties.

This 1700 square foot building dates back to the mid sixties and was “out in the county” before the area was annexed into Everett. Located at 9205 Evergreen Way it is listed for sale at $799,000.00. Downtown Dennis holds the listing. The Amber Lite was used for scenes in the movie “7 Minutes” which was shot in Everett in 2015.

Old Turner’s Tavern at Hewitt and Broadway becoming a Mexican Restaurant.

The exterior is going to have lots of color.

According to an application filed with the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board the former Turner’s Tavern which later became the Fish Tale Pub is getting new life. After sitting empty for a number of years it will become Sol De Mexico with a restaurant and bar. The application was filed in late September. No word on when it will open. The exterior is being painted in several colors and the interior is undergoing some work as well. We’ll keep an eye out.

Renovations and Rumors
After the Jack in the Box and Taco Bell underwent renovation across the street it looks like the KFC at the corner Everett and Broadway is next. Permits are being processed for a dining room remodel and the restaurant is closed. Word is Everett will be getting its first Mod Pizza location. That after an existing restaurant in south Everett is remodeled. A former bank branch also in south Everett is rumored to be the spot for a Chick-fil-A. Still looking to see final approval on permits on those two. A second Dutch Bros Coffee stand has been talked about in south Everett and some preliminary plans seen but nothing concrete there.

Speaking of concrete that has been poured for the Burger King at the site of the former Village Inn on Evergreen Way and the building is coming along. Now hiring signs are up. Just a bit north the concrete is being set at the location of a former Denny’s that will house retail shops and a Panda Express.

5 Rivers Indian Cuisine is having their grand opening. They’re in a former Mexican Restaurant at 9629 Evergreen Way.

The going out of business signs are up at Van Winkles.

Not restaurant related but Van Winkles is closing their doors after decades at the corner of Hewitt and Oakes across from the Arena in downtown Everett. Stopped in today and they said they would close when they were down to their last few pieces. It is one of the more unique stores in Everett having one entrance that leads to a furniture store and another entrance that opens to an archery shop.
